Wow... what a beautiful day. A high of 57 - I only had to wear one layer of gloves on the ride home.
I'm have a party tonight deciding who and what to vote for on my absentee ballot for next week's election. I have four pages of ovals to fill. I'm most excited about a Congressional race in western Nebraska between Adrian Smith (R) and Scott Kleeb (D). Kleeb is leading the race with a few days to go. He would be the first Democrat to hold this seat since 1957. Check out my favorite of his ads.
Back to transportation; Did you know that of all the motorcycles registered in the USA, (6,567,197) 4.3% of them are used for year-round primary transportation (282,389), with an additional 9.9% used seasonally for this purpose (932,542 total). Motorcycle Industry Council? Find out more here

It's the second day on my quest, and it's a cold one. The scooter ride to work was 35F with 20MPH wind gusts. Going home wasn't much better, with a temperature of 26F.
Let me familiarize everyone with my only motorized vehicle.

My Quest:
"Is it possible to live and travel comfortably in a swrawling midwest city - WITHOUT A CAR?"
Most would never think of such a thing. It is the norm to drive from one end of a strip mall to the other, complain that there aren't enough drive-thru windows, and then complain that you are fat. Please, call me a hypocrite - I have done all of those things. But why? Is there a viable option in the suburban land of strip malls and six lane streets? Is there even a viable option besides a car?
